The New Year always seems to inspire us, whether it be by eating better, exercising more, or doing a cleanse.
We are so excited to see so many people coming in to cleanse. A common question I am receiving right now is… “What is the difference between juices and smoothies?”
I do think that is something very important to go over. This is the easiest way I can explain it:
The fundamental difference is the dietary fiber. When you are juicing you are receiving nutrient consumption straight to your body, which will feed your body on a cellular level, but offer no dietary fiber.
When you are “blending” (i.e. smoothie) it breaks down the cell walls but retains all of its dietary fiber.
When you are juicing I do recommend getting colonics. You will be exciting old matter and it is important to be cleansing it. You don’t want old matter to reabsorb.
If you are having trouble with daily bowel movements, a green smoothie is a great breakfast option. Here is a basic recipe for my favorite green smoothie:
1 Cup almond milk (or coconut water)
1 banana (fully ripened)
3 large handfuls of spinach (or your favorite greens)
Feel free to make some personal additions to the recipe to give it variety! Some ideas include (but are not limited to): a handful of your favorite berries, ground flaxseed, protein powder, or cinnamon to taste. Experiment to find your favorite combination!
Throw in a couple of ice cubes if you want more of that icy cold feeling and blend.
A regular blender will do just fine for this recipe.
